GAF L/ES-2 - 35mm SLR Film Camera - In Original Box!
Year Released: 1974
Fun Fact: This camera is one of several SLRs marketed by GAF but manufactured for them by Chinon.
The GAF L/ES-2 was also marketed as The CE Memotron, in places outside of the United States and Europe. The L/ES-2 was an advanced model from Chinon, among the few cameras accepting 42mm screw lenses to offer aperture-priority auto-exposure. Pressing the shutter release halfway stops down the lens and activates a needle in the viewfinder indicating which shutter speed will result. "Memotron" refers to an AE lock feature, used by pressing a button on the side of the lens mount. A tab alongside the film-advance lever permits multiple exposures. The shutter operates flawlessly in auto mode over a range from 1/2000 to 2 seconds, or the familiar speed steps can be selected manually.
GAF is the camera brand name adopted by Ansco after 1967. (This was an acronym for General Aniline & Film, which had been the parent corporation's name for decades.) This L/ES-2 model comes with its original box and promo materials - cool!
This camera and all included has been cleaned and inspected for functionality, and is covered under our 30 day warranty.
